This restaurant was a wonderful experience - from the warm and friendly greeting by the General Manager to the adorable and excellent server to the delicious food. My husband had the Gumbo (which I tried) and it was rich and flavorful and a great amount of spice. I had the Pork Cheek main dish - the pork was tender, the gravy was delicious and the polenta was the perfect compliment...
Delicious food, great vibe and music, and the loveliest staff we have experienced in a while. Hospitable, authentic, and cozy. We had the chicken Parmesan, fried shrimp (next level), and Caesar salad (love the eggplant croutons). All perfection. Sat in the bar room which was a little quieter if that's something you're looking for.
Everything I had (fried green tomatoes, pomme frites, shrimp & grits) was really good. Even one of my dining companions who's a professed "picky eater" with a sensitive stomach, enjoyed his meal and couldn't find anything to complain about...
Dang. Week one and they have the groove. We had pork cheeks with a parmesan polenta. Frankly, there is not a menu in the area that this closely resembles "New Orleans." French, seafood...and a deep nod to the Italian community. That is what the city encompasses in a big way...
We loved our dinner at Barrilleaux's. The food was delicious - a nice mix of New Orleans and Italian cuisines. It came out quickly after we ordered. The waitstaff was professional, friendly, and knowledgable. We had cocktails and wine, both of which were delicious. The space is really beautiful. If you live in New Orleans, this is a great date night restaurant. If you're visiting, it's a great place to get dinner before heading out to Frenchman Street for live music...
